Which is the hardest section in CAT? (Discussion)

Kunal_Gupta saidTue, 29 Jul 2008 13:05:46 -0000 ( Link )

CAT test your all skills like analytical, quantitative skills, confidence, assertiveness & all which a good manager must have. For this they have the CAT paper with three sections in it.

1. Maths 2. English 3. Data interpretation.

So which one according to you is the toughest one.My personal opinion is that no section even comes closer to being crowned the toughest one than the maths section.I always get heavily confused in all the formulas and number games. The theorems , the numbers, the formulas are just too much for me and for that reason i choose the maths section as the toughest one in CAT . You guys agree, or do you find other some other CAT section harder? Do share your views and comment below.

Well!! you thinks same as many other dude.. the problem is not those formulas or all the stuff you mentioned but it’s something you can’t even think of

it’s all about human brain. when it comes to verbal section(which you mentioned as english) you accept as something you need to work on regular basis and more you read the more you will fatch… but when it comes to maths (quant section / problem solving section) direct efforts are required. and thats the only reason we have decided to focus more on this part only here in cat community

    regards gaurav

i think all the sections are unique and innovative and it is difficult to identify the degree of hardness among them. however, i personally find maths more interesting and naturally easier to handle. on the other hand, verbal section is rather trickier to handle where the answer choices to questions in sections like critical reasoning and reading comprehension and the likes are too close that one may often mistake despite best efforts.

i have published a short test on reasoning (mainly maths) with 5 questions on this community and on another (Intelligence) started by me. please try the test and share how u find it. i also invite u to join my community “intelligence” and contribute to its objectives.

    Regards rkmittal

hi kunal i feel all the sections in CAT are equally tough if u dont have the technique. As u said using no formule one can crack the CAT. All the sections will test ur logical ability. If u consider the maths section u should nt deal it with formule. u concentrate on the method or technique that how the formula is generated. Then this section will b very easy to deal.. In case of english also there r methods.. if u treat it just as a subject then it is difficult.. it is something beyond that..If u blindly bi heart the meanings then it is difficult.. U should use the vocab in ur general usage.. similarly data interpretation is also difficult u dont have the technique..

So what i want to conclude is that every section is hard and important. U should have the technique to deal.
