With CAT results being
declared, B-schools are busy preparing their admission criteria.
The time is less and most B-schools across country have yet not
announced their admission criteria for 2012-14. Many B-schools say
they will only divulge this information once CAT results
are declared on January 11, 2011.
Some IIMs, like IIM Bangalore,
IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode, have already published their admission
criteria on their official websites. As per the cutoffs, these IIMs
have mentioned the overall cut-off as more than 90 percentile for
General category candidates. However, final cutoffs would depend on
CAT 2011 results.
Let us see admission criteria for some B-schools for
2012-14-:
1) IIM Kozhikode:
Stage 1: Admission to this prestigious B-school
is a multi-staged process. An index score will be calculated with
50% weightage for the overall CAT 2011
score, 20% weightage for academic performance in secondary school,
20% weightage for higher secondary school and 10% weightage for the
work experience of the candidate. The sectional Cutoffs for General
Category is- 80 for all sections-Verbal, QA and DI. The overall
cutoff is 90 and above.
Stage 2: On the basis of the CAT score, performance in secondary school, higher
secondary school and work experience, which totals to 50. 50%
weightage is given to the factors like Group Discussion and Social
Skills, Personal Interview and Writing Task (Essay). The weightage
given to these factors are as follows:
Index score obtained in Stage 2 of short listing for GD/PI -
50%
Group discussion and social skills - 15%
Personal interview - 25%
Writing task (Essay) - 10%
2) IIM Lucknow: The
parameters on the basis of which the admission to IIM-Lucknow for batch of 2012-14 will take place are:
CAT 2011 scores, GD, PI, written ability
test and past academic performance and prior work experience. For a
candidate belonging to general category, the overall cut off for
CAT 2010 is 90 percentile and sectional
cut offs are 80 percentile for Quantitative Ability, 85 percentile
for Logic & Data Interpretation and 85 percentile for Verbal
Ability. You should remember in order to get a call for GD/PI,
student's past academic performance secondary, higher secondary and
graduate program and experience profile of the candidates will be
considered.

3) IIM Calcutta:
Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta issued its admission
policy for its Post Graduate Program in management for the coming
session 2012-2014. The IIM-C will follow
the last year's admission policy for this year too. The admission
policy is based on candidate's cumulative data on Common Admission
Test (CAT), Group Discussion, performance
in Personal Interview and previous Work Experience.
IIM Calcutta will give importance to
work experience; those candidates who are having more than 36
months work experience are awarded with six points.

The candidates awarded maximum 6 marks have been depending on
the total work experience. Candidates having 0-11 months work
experience have received 0 marks.
