Q. How to deal with words?
A. To learn something you must know about that thing. Words are divided in broadly three parts.
1 - Words with roots: These are the words that have there root, generally from Latin/Greek words. These are the words that are easiest to deal with, once you know about their root word. Root could be anything like 'EGO' means 'I' and is used in different words like
2- Words with common field: As the name suggests, these are the words that have their ground in some particular field and known as terminology. The field could be anything like Science, Business etc.
3 - Words with suffix and prefix: These are the most common words that add in the starting or at the end of other words and can change the meaning of word entirely.
Once you know the function of a suffix or a prefix you can guess the meaning of the word easily.
Example: sub + standard = substandard meaning below standard.
Q. How to build Vocabulary?
A. Unlike any other field of a language, Vocabulary is something that is endless. More you learn, more you find to learn. That's why Vocabulary building is considered a continuous process leading to continuous learning.

Hi ! Gaurav.
Thanx for the guidance. I waz searching the categorization of words everywhere…i found it here:).
and reading editorials in newzpapers is really a good idea.Because i think; the editors are the people who play with words.Daily one can get 20-25 new words in one essay, and current issues as well. and it wont take more than 20 minutes, reading an article.
Thank you all. For puting up your views here.
Happy posting.
Thanks everyone for your possitive words.

Also visit the CAT community page – there is a separate vocabulary section that you can scroll down to view.

Start with GRE Wordlist. You should go through 1-2 wordlists everyday and before moving on to the next one, revise the previous one. GRE Community contains lot of lessons and tests to help you prepare for the verbal section. First read the lessons so that you get an idea about the types of questions asked in the section. Once you have reviewed the lessons, practice giving as many tests as possible. Reading Comprehension Passage is the toughest one in the section. Practice them regularly.
u made it easy for me …
